An edition number says which one of a run this is. The slip and its words are a plate at 0°; the number is a stamped impression in the stamp ink, masked and roughened like a rubber stamp, so it reads as printed by a numbering machine.
Use an edition number for things that come in a numbered series: case studies, releases, prints, the journal. It is a slip with a perforated edge and a stamped number, with a label and a meta line.
Props.no, of, pad (zero padding, default 4), prefix ("Nº" or "No."), label ("Case 03") and meta ("build 4f2a91c").
Real text. The numerals are text and the slip is named "Edition 14 of 250".
Composite: the slip, the label and the line are a plate at 0°; the stamped number is art texture on display-size numerals. Quiet prints the number flat (no mask, no rough edge); Studio masks it; Press and Rave add a second plate off register. Under more contrast it prints solid.
Plus 277 React and DOM attributes passed through to the root element (className, ref, aria-*, event handlers and the rest). Generated from EditionNumberProps in packages/overprint-react/src/print/edition-number.tsx.
