Bone by default, Night behind a toggle, and a more-contrast mode for both.

On this page

Bone is the paper a first visit sees (D-C7); Night is the same press after dark, inks turned fluorescent. More contrast firms up both when a reader asks for it, through the system setting or the root attribute.

Paper and ink#

The paper, the two inks, the link and the focus ring on each paper at both contrasts. The normal rows are live; the more-contrast rows print the look's values, since contrast is set for the whole page.

Choosing a paper#

The theme toggle in the header remembers the reader's choice under mk-theme, and PrefsScript applies it before the first paint, so there is no flash of the wrong paper. A section can pin its own paper with data-mk-theme, for a Night band inside a Bone page.

More contrast#

data-mk-contrast="more" on <html>, or the reader's prefers-contrast: more, moves every ink one step firmer on its ladder, turns off the second ink on display type and drops the grain and mottle from the art (D-C9). It is a page-wide setting: the press check renders every component in a more-contrast look of each colourway and paper.

Forced colours

Under Windows' forced colours the kit hands every surface and rule to the system colours, keeps the focus ring and keeps meaning in letters and glyphs, which survive any palette.
